Terms of Use

Overview

These Terms of Use govern your use of welcome2mahj.com, the MAHJ mobile app, and the MAHJ shop (collectively, the “Service”), operated by Welcome2Mahj LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“we,” “us,” or “Welcome2Mahj”). By using the Service or making a purchase, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to make a purchase. Players under 18 are welcome to use the educational content with a parent or guardian’s permission. The Service is not directed at children under 13.

Educational content

The lessons, drills, and reference materials are for personal, non-commercial use. You may not republish, redistribute, or adapt them for paid teaching without our written permission.

Welcome2Mahj is independent — we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Mah Jongg League® (NMJL®). The NMJL® card itself is their copyrighted property; you should buy it from them directly at nationalmahjonggleague.org.

Shop and purchases

The MAHJ shop is not currently available. When it launches, the following will apply: items are made to order through our print partner. Prices are listed in U.S. dollars; we currently plan to ship within the United States only. Orders are processed and paid through Stripe; payment, billing, and dispute resolution are subject to Stripe’s terms in addition to these.

We reserve the right to refuse, cancel, or refund any order — for example, if a customization request includes content that is harmful, deceptive, or infringes on third-party rights.

Returns and refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

In-app purchases

MAHJ offers a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks the full app (all lessons, the game, the Coach, the Hand Analyzer, and the full practice library). Lessons 1–3, the tile drills, the daily puzzle, the printable cheat sheet, and the glossary stay free.

In-app purchases are sold and processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store), not by us — we never receive your payment-card details. Billing, restoring purchases, and refunds are governed by Apple’s or Google’s terms, and refund requests must be made through them.

Affiliate links

Some pages (such as the Gear Guide) contain Amazon affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Any purchase you make on Amazon is a transaction directly with Amazon and subject to Amazon’s terms; we are not a party to it.

Intellectual property

The MAHJ logo, the Welcome2Mahj name, our original tile artwork, lesson content, and mobile app are owned by Welcome2Mahj LLC. Tile face conventions (Bams, Cracks, Dots, Winds, Dragons, Flowers, Joker) are traditional and uncopyrightable; our hand-drawn renderings of them are our own original work. You may not copy our artwork or content for commercial use without permission.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is.” We don’t guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free content, or that practicing with the app will make you win at your next mahjong table. Game outcomes depend on the cards, the company, and the snacks.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Welcome2Mahj is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for that specific order.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in the State of Texas.

Changes

We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
